Balloons are an affordable and colorful way to decorate any event. The only limitation will be your creativity and strength required to tie the knots! First, we will explain which balloons to choose, and then we will inundate you with tons of interesting, wonderful ideas for decorating with balloons.
Consider the color scheme. There are a huge number of colored balls. Do you want to use all the colors of the rainbow, two-tone balls or do you want a semi-darkness? Want to imitate champagne bubbles? Flame color? How many flowers will you need?
Decide what kind of balloons you need: lavsan or latex. Mylar balloons are more suitable for outdoor events - this type of balloons can be bent (they often come with inscriptions in various shapes and styles); latex ones explode more easily, especially outside the home if there are children nearby. However, latex balloons come in more varieties and are also easier to work with.
The next section (where we'll discuss decorating ideas) will focus mainly on latex balloons. Lavsan ones are also suitable... but not so much.
Assess the parameters and dimensions of the place. The larger the space or the less decorated it is, the more balloons you will need. Latex balloons are much cheaper and will cost you even less if you inflate them yourself. Do you just need a few balloons for minor decoration or do you want guests to swim in them? And as always - just in case, take a little more than you might need!
Choose between helium or regular balloons. You can completely decorate a room with ordinary balloons without any problems. It's fast, cheap and very easy. But to feel the full abundance of balloon possibilities, you will need helium balloons. Or both!
Balloons can be inflated at a party supply store, or you can buy a homemade helium kit. If you have tons of balls, you'll want to go with the latter option.
Let's get creative
Think about different options for how to hang them. Regardless, whether you have access to helium or not, you don't have to resort to simply hanging balloons from the ceiling or scattering them around the floor. There are many ways to make the balls fly outside the box:
Helium balloons available
Tie ribbons around the ends of the balls and attach them to golf pegs in your garden.
Tie ribbons to the ends of the balls and glue them to the floor, at different heights, forming a wall.
Regular balls available:
Attach balls of different sizes to the wall (like bubbles)
Place a small ball or coin, tie it to a string, and hang it upside down on the ceiling.
Form different shapes. You'll probably need an armful of balloons, so why not take advantage of their decorative capabilities and create big, impressive looks? Here are some ideas:
Remove the arch from the balls. Helium balloons on strings do most of the work for themselves.
Form flowers. Four balls of the same color will be petals; the ball of a different color in the middle will be the eye.
Make a pennant. Take a needle and thread and pull it through a row of balls, forming your own unusual pennant.
Color them up! This can be a fun part of your party. With a few intricate personalities, you can turn the balloons into a canvas for your masterpieces.
2 words: glue and glitter. If you have a bottle of glue, you can dip the ball in the glue to create a two-tone ball.
Permanent marker. Grimaces of your friends, anyone interested?
Paints, felt, whatever you can get out of your dresser.
Use them purposefully. Balls are not only symbols, they can also be symbols. If people ask why your house is filled with balloons, answer that you need them. Here are some reasons:
Use them as tags! Fill the balloons with helium, tie and attach a label to the tip of the balloon, and attach the balloon to the chair. People will be able to take them home after the party!
Use a pennant or thick ribbon and stick it to the closed door. When the guest of honor comes in, the ball will drop!
Make a masterpiece of art! Use a folder mache or make a template that can be used as a vase or mini lamp.
